Welcome to Stetson Air

General Operating Manual

Welcome to Stetson Air! We are a very laid-back Virtual Airline with plenty of friendly, helpful services and the best bunch of pilots anywhere. You will find this Manual to be very helpful in getting your career started. Our main objective here is to make your flying enjoyable and fun. We have tried our utmost not to place a lot of requirements so you can fly more.

Any pilot joining from another virtual airline can be credited his/her full hours from that virtual airline provide his/her record can be verified either through the previous employers web site or by email a responsible staff at the virtual airline.

Membership in this Virtual Airline involves no monetary fund

PILOT STATUS

Once a pilot has enrolled, he/she will be placed on the active roster of the hub of their choice as determined by the application form. The new pilot has seven (7) days to file his/her first flight report or they are subject to removal by the Hub Manager. To stay active on the roster, they must file a flight report within every 45 days. In the event a pilot fails to do so, they can be removed from the active roster. If a pilots remains on the active roster and has not filed a flight report for over a period of 45 days and then removed, that pilot must contact the Hub Manager and request to be active again. The CEO has the sole responsibility to allow or disallow the pilot to become active again.  In the event a pilot wishes to be placed on leave of absence, they must notify the Hub Manager of their intentions and provide an estimated return date. To be fair, the general rule will be a LOA will be granted 2 months for every 250 hours the pilots has logged. The LOA cannot exceed 6 months. Failure to notify the Hub Manager, he may remove the pilot from the roster without notice. Pilots on leave of absence are considered active pilots. If a pilot request a LOA and is discovered flying with another virtual airline, that pilot will be removed from the roster immediately. Any pilot assigned to any hub, may fly any route available at this virtual airline.

RIBBON PROGRAM

We have a ribbon program for our pilots to receive recognition for their accomplishments. The Pilots Center page displays the ribbons we use along with its description. To receive any ribbon a pilot must comply with the requirements. No pilot may accelerate the simulation time in order to achieve a ribbon sooner than expected, it is also expected all pilots to maintain an active status while flying, going to the bathroom or getting a drink or having lunch or dinner is fine. But do not start FS and go to work or sleep.  Any such actions discovered will result in the removal of such ribbon, or double hours if flown on line. We want to keep this fantastic hobby on a level playing field so all have the same opportunity. In the event a pilot is removed from the active roster for inactivity the ribbons received will be withdrawn. If the pilot returns to the VA, they must start over again to receive any ribbons. You must complete one ribbon adventure before starting another. However, you are allowed to take a break from a ribbon flight and fly some standard flights.

Hubs

At the present time we are operating 5 Hubs. Each Hub Manager is responsible for maintaining their pilot's records - particularly in regard to total hour’s flown, current ranks and ribbons awarded. Promotions are to be awarded as each pilot attains the hours for that rank. Each Hub Manager shall provide to the pilot upon his/her request a certificate of promotion. The choice of a fixed route structure is at the discretion of the Hub Manager.

Screen Shots

Each Hub Manager at his discretion may display screen shots for the pilots. The restrictions are as follows:

      1. The aircraft on display can only be Stetson Air aircraft.

      2. Each pilot may have only 5 screen shots on display at one time.

      3. Each shot will be no larger than 600x450. Text may be placed inside the jpeg for information.

      4. Only jpeg will be allowed.

Qualifications for New Hub/Hub Managers

1. Any candidate to the position of Hub Manager, either for a new hub or an existing one, must:

     a. Have been a pilot with Stetson Air for at least six months.

     b. Have achieved the rank of Senior Captain.

     c. Be recommended by his/her current Hub Manager.

2.The decision for the selection of the new Hub Manager is reserved by the CEO.

3. The opening of any new Hub is a decision reserved to the present Hub Managers.

4. The implementation of any new hub will be under the supervision of the CEO.

Pilot Transfers

Pilots sometimes wish to change hubs and this should always be supported. To avoid possible conflict, no pilot should ever directly contact the Hub Manager of the hub he/she wishes to transfer to. The following procedure for transfer shall be observed:

When a pilot submits his request for transfer to his current Hub Manager. His Hub Manager shall contact the Hub Manager of the hub that the pilot wishes to transfer to and request approval from the new Hub Manager to accept the pilot.

The new Hub Manager will then reply to the original Hub Manager with permission to transfer the pilot. If transfer is not approved, a reason should be stated as to why this is not the case.

The hub conducting the transfer will then supply the new Hub Manager with the following information:

Name of Pilot and ID Number:

Rank of Pilot:

Ribbons Awarded:

Hours to Date:

Pilots email address:

Any additional information he may want the new HC to be aware of.

Upon receipt of this data, the new Hub Manager will enter the data in his roster and notify the transferred pilot with a letter indicating that he/she is now assigned to the new hub. A copy of this letter should be sent to the old Hub Manager (with a copy to the CEO) so that the old Hub Manager may remove the data of the former pilot from his records. A pilot may only transfer to a hub once within a 6 month period of time. When a pilot transfers to a new hub, the pilot will retain his/her pilot ID number.

Flight Reports

All pilots should file their flight reports upon completion the their flight, however you may submit your reports once a week by filling out the PIREP accordingly. We have provided space for 4 reports, in the event you have more just compile the form the second time. The week closes at the Hub Manager discretion,  so any report filed after that date will be credited to the following week. Remember flying on line is double hours, providing you use the Stetson Air FS Host, and will be added to your total hours only, this allows individuals that choose not to fly on line have an equal chance of receiving any ribbons, i.e. pilot of the month which is based on most hours flown within a given month.

Ranking System

Your rank is entirely dependent on how many flight hours you accumulate. You may only fly the aircraft your hours qualify you for. Once the highest level is achieved you may fly all. Realistically a Trainee could not fly a 747.

Routes System

We have a very extensive and diversified routes system that encompasses flights all over the globe. Not all flights will start and end at the Hubs. All pilots are allowed to fly any route within the airlines. Belonging to a particular hub, does not restrict you to fly just that hubs flights. The type of system we have will gives our pilots a much larger variety of flights that can originate at any airport within the globe. This routes system will expand with time. The flight number placed on the flight report will be very critical when filing your flight report. The pilot may make the return flight for our standard flights or just start a different flight. That is his/her decision. Most ribbon flight has it's own requirements.

MULTI PLAYER FLY-INS

We have multi player fly-ins from time to time where the pilots can fly on line to and from a designated location established by the maker of the fly-in. Our voice program is Team Speak which all the necessary information is located on the Pilot Center page. If a pilot wishes to fly with other pilots on line they may join in. We have a server available 24/7. All on line flying will be credited double time.
